Beloved 4th of July Celebration at Risk of Cancellation
ExpoShows Warehouse Under Investigation for Alleged Illegal Activities, Forcing Lancaster, Palmdale, and Other Cities to Find Last-Minute Replacement for Independence Day Events

Lancaster, CA – With disappointment, the Cities of Lancaster and Palmdale report that the California State Fire Marshall found the vendor for the annual 4th of July Extravaganza, Exposhows, Inc., to be engaged in alleged, undisclosed illegal activity, potentially forcing the Cities to cancel this year’s event. The Cities are standing by for additional details on this active investigation, along with several other entities also affected by this news including La Puente and Lynwood.

“As a community that respects and values law and order, we are saddened by this revelation and await more information to emerge,” said Mayor R. Rex Parris. “Despite the news, we are not giving up. We are currently scouring for available vendors and trying to find a way for our community to enjoy a 4th of July Extravaganza together. We honor the tradition of gathering in celebration of Independence Day during an official City event.”

City of Lancaster Hosts “Cool Summer Nights” at Tierra Bonita Park in Honor of Parks Make Life Better Month
Lancaster, CA – This July, the City of Lancaster is hosting weekly free “Cool Summer Nights” events at Tierra Bonita Park in celebration of Parks Make Life Better Month. The month-long celebration raises awareness of the benefits of parks and recreation throughout California. Lancaster residents are invited to attend all the events, which will take place every Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m.


  • July 5: Movie Night, featuring the original Jumanji, free popcorn, and food trucks
  • July 12: Carnival Night, featuring free carnival games, bounce houses, balloon animals, and face painting
  • July 19: Boogie Night, featuring a live DJ, a free dance party, and food trucks
  • July 26: Obstacle Course Night, featuring a free inflatable obstacle course challenge, prizes, and food trucks

GENERAL ROAD CONSTRUCTION:

Intermittent lane closures on both sides of Avenue R for utility and road work. Please slow down for construction zone and expect delays.

[l] CLOSURE 10th Street East from Avenue P to Blackbird Lane [/l]

North side of 10th Street East closed for Palmdale Water District Project. Detour in place. Please slow down for the construction zone and expect delays.

[l] Rancho Vista Boulevard west of 3rd Street East [/l]

Intermittent lane closure of the #2 eastbound lane on Rancho Vista Boulevard for General Benefits right of way work. Please slow down for the construction zone and expect delays.

[l] Rancho Vista Boulevard between 15th Street West and 30th Street West [/l]

Intermittent lane closure of the #1 eastbound and westbound lanes on Rancho Vista Boulevard for General Benefits tree planting. Please slow down for the construction zone and expect delays.

Avenue K Interchange Restricted to One Lane Beginning June 27 as City Constructs New Recycled Waterline
Lancaster, CA – Beginning on or around June 27, 2022, a segment of Avenue K east of the 12 St. West intersection will be restricted to one lane as the City constructs a new recycled waterline.

The traffic restrictions are projected to last for approximately 25 working days for this segment of the project. The specific traffic impacts are as follows:


  • At Avenue K Westbound and Commerce Center Driveway, the left turn lane will be temporarily closed. The through lane and the right turn to West Ave J-15 will be available.
  • At Avenue K Eastbound at Commerce Center Driveway, the left turn to West Ave J-15 will be temporarily closed. The through lane and the right turn into the Commerce Center driveway will be available.
  • At Commerce Center Driveway at Avenue K, the left turn will be temporarily closed. The right turn will be available.
  • The temporary traffic restrictions will enable the City to advance the construction of a 24” recycled waterline from 10th Street West to 15th Street Waste along Avenue K. During the initial 25-day working period, the City’s contractor plans to dig pits on either side of the Amargosa Channel and install the recycled waterline pipe. Construction work will occur between the hours of 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m., and day work will include testing and surveys.

Cycle And Sip For A Cause At This Year’s Tour de Luke Charity Bike Ride
Lancaster, CA – Grab your helmets and dust off your bikes! The City of Lancaster, in partnership with Lucky Luke Brewing, is hosting its second annual Tour de Luke Charity Bike Ride on Saturday, July 16 to raise money for local bicycle nonprofit Resurrection Cycles as well as active transportation and healthy living programming.

Beginning at 8 a.m., this 14.2 mile community bike ride will start and end at Lucky Luke Brewpub in Lancaster, where cyclists will enjoy complimentary beer, event swag, raffles, and more.

“We are so excited to host the second annual Tour de Luke community bike ride for a great cause,” said Mayor R. Rex Parris. “We recognize the significance of safe alternative transportation and ensuring everyone can get to work or school. What better way to support a great cause than to bike around Lancaster with friends and end with a locally crafted beer?”

Register now to join hundreds of other community members biking through Lancaster and Palmdale. General Registration starts at $30 and includes entry for the bike ride, one free beer after the event (for riders 21+), and 20% off at both Lucky Luke Brewing locations the day of the ride.
