CALM is a nonprofit 501c3 corporation specializing in helping the common citizen and small businesses negotiate the system before, during or after the legal process. We're dedicated to the principle that fairness and justice can be found other than in administrative or government tribunals or in street justice.
Mediation is an informal process allowing the parties themselves to reach their own solutions based on their own individual needs, interests and capabilities. Agreements can be binding. CALM does not provide legal counsel. We do provide document review and referral.
The Firm
We're a new kind of quasi-legal firm consisting of seasoned professionals , volunteers, and interns dedicated to reaching and serving people at street level--at the earliest possible stage off a dispute or claim. As mediation professionals, we promote and enhance your ability to control your own outcome using creative problem-solving and interest based bargaining. Our founder, president, and chief mediator LA Hughes, MA, JD has been practicing for over 25 years and a member of Southern California Mediation Association for as many years. As part of a nationwide network, she is able to access top mediators in the field to handle more complex matters at negotiated fee reductions. Talk to a CALM representative first.
