Rawley Duntley Park Embarks on Exciting Journey of Revitalization
Lancaster Community Gathers for Groundbreaking Ceremony

Lancaster, CA - Rawley Duntley Park, a cherished community landmark in Lancaster, took a significant step forward in its journey towards revitalization with a groundbreaking ceremony held today. City officials, alongside enthusiastic community members, gathered to mark the beginning of a transformative project set to breathe new life into the park.

Mayor R. Rex Parris expressed his anticipation for the project, stating, "The revitalization of Rawley Duntley Park represents a significant investment in our community's well-being. This project underscores our commitment to providing residents with top-tier recreational facilities that promote inclusivity, health, and community engagement."

Rawley Duntley Park, spanning approximately 20 acres, has served as a hub for recreational activities for decades. However, with its last update dating back to the mid-1980s, the park is in need of modernization. The playground equipment and basketball courts, although well-loved by locals, have become outdated, necessitating upgrades to enhance accessibility, functionality, and aesthetics.
The comprehensive scope of work includes the refurbishment of the playground area, which will feature an all-inclusive, ADA-accessible playground equipped with pour-in-place flooring for safety and comfort. Additionally, the existing basketball courts will undergo renovation to ensure they meet modern standards, providing residents with high-quality facilities for leisure and sports activities.

Through extensive community engagement efforts, including online surveys and grassroots outreach, the City solicited input from residents, ensuring that the project reflects the diverse needs and preferences of the community. The planned improvements, guided by community feedback, aim to create a welcoming and inclusive space for all residents to enjoy.

Funded in part by LA County Measure A funds, the Rawley Duntley Park revitalization project represents a collaborative effort between the City and its residents to enhance public spaces and promote the well-being of all community members. The project timeline, carefully orchestrated to minimize disruptions, aims for completion by the summer of 2024, just in time for residents to enjoy the park's improved amenities during one of its busiest seasons.
