Lancaster, CA. March 29, 2024 - Earlier this month, the Lancaster Police Department announced the deployment of a new gunshot detection technology to enhance public safety in the City. As part of a six-month pilot program and a three-year professional agreement with SoundThinking, Inc., the solution, named ShotSpotter, is designed to identify, locate, and track active gunfire.

ShotSpotter is a state-of-the-art system that can quickly identify the sound of gunshots and notify law enforcement agencies within seconds of their occurrence. Since its implementation, it has provided 36 confirmed alerts related to gunshots, leading to numerous arrests and the capture of valuable evidence.

The 39th Annual AVUHSD Student Art Exhibition Returns To MOAH:CEDAR
Lancaster, CA - MOAH:CEDAR and the Lancaster Museum of Art and History (MOAH) invite the public to the 39th Annual Antelope Valley Union High School District (AVUHSD) Student Art Exhibition taking place at MOAH:CEDAR from Thursday, March 28 to Friday, May 12, 2024. The awards ceremony for the exhibition will take place on Thursday, April 4 at 6 p.m. in Cedar Hall. The AVUHSD Student Art Exhibition gives students the opportunity to showcase their burgeoning artistic talent in a professional setting.

Participating schools include nine high schools and the Math Literacy Project in the Antelope Valley Union High School District. This year representatives from the museum reviewed student art portfolios and selected approximately 300 two-dimensional, three-dimensional, and multimedia works from students. Students have the opportunity to win cash prizes and awards from the Lancaster Museum and Public Art Foundation (LMPAF) and local participating organizations and businesses. Lancaster Community Center Announces Exciting Spring Break Week Programs for Families!
Lancaster, CA - The Lancaster Community Center (LCC) is thrilled to announce an exciting lineup of activities and workshops designed for the entire family this spring break, from March 25 to March 29. Located at 44611 Yucca Avenue, the LCC invites community members of all ages to join in a week filled with educational and entertaining events.

Lancaster, CA - Join the Lancaster Museum of Art and History (MOAH) for a Spanish Language guided tour for MOAH’s newest exhibition, Formation. The tour will be hosted on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at 5 p.m. and will be presented entirely in Spanish by a tour guide from the museum.

Formation is an exhibition that explores clay’s inherent malleability and concern for the body, its politics, and experience. Formation highlights the work of nine artists: Kiel Johnson, Kevin Kowalski, Galia Linn, Elana Mann, Elyse Pignolet, Aili Schmeltz, Diane Silver, Camilla Taylor, and Sean Yang. The exhibition is currently on view from now, through Sunday, April 14, 2024.
