Lancaster Police Department Celebrates New Headquarters For Its Police Officers
Investment in a new resource center designed to better equip the City’s Officers to combat crime, improve safety

The City of Lancaster gathered today to celebrate the opening of its new Police Station located at 4481 Sierra Highway. The ceremony featured remarks from Mayor R. Rex Parris and Chief of Police Rodrick Armalin, highlighting the City’s vision for the future and the continuation of its journey toward a safer, more secure Lancaster.

“The groundbreaking of our Police Station is a historic step in the City’s quest to enhance public safety,” said Mayor R. Rex Paris. “We’re committed to providing the highest level of protection to our residents and visitors, and this facility represents a significant investment in the safety and well-being of our community.”

Founded on the principles of unity and commitment, the Lancaster Police Department’s mission is to enhance, support, and supplement the commendable efforts of the LA County Sheriff’s Department (LASD). The Department will be led by Chief of Police Rodrick Armalin and Assistant Police Chief Chris Roberts.

Hop Into Spring: City of Lancaster Presents The Annual Bunny Hop
Lancaster, CA - The City of Lancaster invites community members to hop on over to celebrate the return of spring at its annual Easter event, The Bunny Hop! The event will be held on March 30 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Sgt. Steve Owen Memorial Park.

The Bunny Hop is geared toward children 11 years old and under, but the event is free and open to all. Attendees will be able to enjoy a variety of activities and attractions, including face painting, magicians, bounce houses, music, a bunny trail, and many more activities for Lancaster’s little ones. There will also be vendors and food trucks for everyone to enjoy.

“Each year, The Bunny Hop event brings a joyous spirit to our City, echoing the vibrant essence of Lancaster,” said Mayor R. Rex Parris. “It's a cherished tradition that unites families and brings us an opportunity to come together as a community. Let’s embrace this joyful occasion, celebrating the bonds that make Lancaster truly special."

New Gunshot Detection Technology to Enhance Public Safety in the City of Lancaster
A state-of-the-art technology will alert police authorities within seconds to better respond to gunfire incidents

Lancaster, CA - The Lancaster Police Department is proud to announce the deployment of gunshot detection technology to enhance public safety in the City. The technology is being provided by SoundThinking Inc. under a six-month pilot program and a three-year professional agreement. The solution, named ShotSpotter, is designed to identify, locate, and track active gunfire. This state-of-the-art technology is the newest addition to the City’s arsenal of public safety programs, continuing Lancaster’s development of the Digital Shield.

ShotSpotter is capable of identifying the sound of gunshots and alerting authorities within seconds of their occurrence. Once the sound is detected, the system automatically alerts law enforcement agencies by directing resources to the precise location of more than 90% of gunfire incidents with tremendous accuracy.

“We are excited to partner with SoundThinking to bring this incredible technology to the City of Lancaster,” said Mayor R. Rex Parris. “We believe that ShotSpotter will play a significant role in enhancing public safety and reducing crime in our community. Rawley Duntley Park Embarks on Exciting Journey of Revitalization
Lancaster Community Gathers for Groundbreaking Ceremony

Lancaster, CA - Rawley Duntley Park, a cherished community landmark in Lancaster, took a significant step forward in its journey towards revitalization with a groundbreaking ceremony held today. City officials, alongside enthusiastic community members, gathered to mark the beginning of a transformative project set to breathe new life into the park.

Mayor R. Rex Parris expressed his anticipation for the project, stating, "The revitalization of Rawley Duntley Park represents a significant investment in our community's well-being. This project underscores our commitment to providing residents with top-tier recreational facilities that promote inclusivity, health, and community engagement."

Rawley Duntley Park, spanning approximately 20 acres, has served as a hub for recreational activities for decades. However, with its last update dating back to the mid-1980s, the park is in need of modernization. The playground equipment and basketball courts, although well-loved by locals, have become outdated, necessitating upgrades to enhance accessibility, functionality, and aesthetics.

FOSTER FAMILIES NEEDED FOR LOCAL CHILDREN
Children's Bureau Offering Virtual Orientations

Children's Bureau is seeking foster families and now offers two virtual ways for individuals and/or couples to learn how to help children in foster care while reunifying with birth families or how to provide legal permanency by adoption.

If you or someone you know may be interested in learning more about foster care and adoption, a live English Zoom Orientation is scheduled for March 21st from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. hosted by a Children's Bureau team member and a foster parent. For those who want to learn at their own pace about becoming a foster and/or foster-adopt parent, a PowerPoint orientation is also available. Desert Sands Park Gets New Playground and Fitness Zone
PALMDALE, CA – The City of Palmdale is proud to announce the opening of its new playground and fitness zone at Desert Sands Park, providing a fun and active space for families and children of all ages to enjoy.

The playground is thoughtfully designed with state-of-the-art equipment to promote physical activity and imaginative play in a safe and stimulating environment. Children can climb, slide, spin, and explore while enjoying the park’s fresh air and beautiful surroundings.

The new playground and fitness zone equipment focus on the physical and social aspects of inclusion and child development. Notably, the SkyRun Zip Track offers an exciting motion play activity that feels like flying. The Zero-G seat promotes inclusivity and allows all children to join the fun. The innovative obstacle course includes an eight-foot Traverse Wall, Balance Walk, seven-foot Up & Over net wall and a U-Turn Ramp. The playground also has accessible features for children with disabilities, ensuring everyone can join the fun.

“We are thrilled to bring this new playground and fitness zone to our residents,” said Mayor Austin Bishop. “This improvement was made possible by reinvesting Measure AV tax dollars in our community, thanks to Palmdale voters.”
