California Poppy Festival Named in USA Today 10 Best Readers' Choice for Best Flower Festival |
Lancaster, CA - The California Poppy Festival has been named as a winner of the Best Flower Festival in the 2024 USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Travel Awards, known for shedding light on the finest in travel destinations and experiences. Among renowned contenders, the California Poppy Festival stood out, claiming the ninth spot on the list. This exciting recognition comes as the City of Lancaster’s local festival is set to return from April 19 to April 21 at the AV Fair & Event Center.
"Being named the Best Flower Festival in the prestigious USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Travel Awards is a remarkable honor for the California Poppy Festival and the City of Lancaster,” stated Mayor R. Rex Parris. “Placing 9th in a field of such esteemed competitors showcases the enduring appeal and vibrant spirit of our community event. Placing 9th out of a competitive nationwide group (ahead of competitors like Epcot), this win is a wonderful recognition of a beloved community event. Nominees for the 10Best Readers’ Choice were chosen by a panel of esteemed experts comprising editors from USA TODAY and 10Best.com, relevant expert contributors, and sources from various Gannett properties. The contenders were chosen with consideration for their exceptional offerings and contributions to the travel landscape. Voting in the contest was open to the public, allowing individuals to cast their ballots online for their preferred nominee over four weeks.

Celebrate National Deaf History Month With American Sign Language Guided Tour For MOAH’s Newest Exhibition |
Lancaster, CA - Join the Lancaster Museum of Art and History (MOAH) for an American Sign Language tour for MOAH’s newest exhibition, Formation. The ASL tour will be hosted on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at 5 p.m. The tour will feature a tour guide from the museum, accompanied with an ASL interpreter. Experience the culmination of the exhibition with an exclusive American Sign Language guided tour during its final days.
Formation is an exhibition that explores clay’s inherent malleability and concern for the body, its politics, and experience. Formation highlights the work of nine artists: Kiel Johnson, Kevin Kowalski, Galia Linn, Elana Mann, Elyse Pignolet, Aili Schmeltz, Diane Silver, Camilla Taylor, and Sean Yang. The exhibition is currently on view from now through Sunday, April 14, 2024.
