Palmdale Celebrates Trailblazing Partnership with Together California to Revolutionize Foster Care |
PALMDALE, CA – A new era of foster care is taking shape in Palmdale! On Tuesday, Oct. 28, City leadership joined Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and Together California’s visionary co-founders, Dr. Eric Esrailian and Christian Bale, and Executive Director Tim McCormick to introduce an innovative foster care model launching right here in our City in 2025. This partnership is made possible under the leadership of Los Angeles County Fifth District Supervisor Kathryn Barger, who is the impetus for bringing this program to Palmdale.
“Taking care of our children is the most important work we can do, and we are honored that Palmdale has been chosen as the launch site for this first-of-its-kind foster care initiative in California,” said Palmdale Mayor Austin Bishop. “Our community is proud to be a trailblazer in this space, building a brighter future for the next generation.”
City Councilmembers Eric Ohlsen and Andrea Alarcón also attended the announcement, emphasizing the City’s commitment to this transformative partnership.
Together California acquired a 4.67-acre site adjacent to William J. McAdam Park in 2022, its first location on the West Coast. Offering pioneering care designed to keep foster siblings together, the “village” will feature 12 three-bedroom townhomes, each housing six children. A full-time, professionally trained foster parent will provide care and support. Studio apartments will be available to provide temporary housing for birth parents and transitional housing for children aging out of foster care. A 7,000-square-foot community center that will offer enriching programs and services to the entire community is part of the project. Award-winning architecture firm AC Martin is partnering with Together California to design the village.

Palmdale Leaders Share Expertise at League of California Cities Annual Conference |
PALMDALE, CA – The City of Palmdale demonstrated its leadership in municipal innovation and community engagement at the 2024 League of California Cities (Cal Cities) Annual Conference and Expo, held October 16-18 at the Long Beach Convention Center.
Mayor Austin Bishop, City Manager Ronda Perez and Deputy City Manager Nardy Lopez were among the distinguished speakers at this gathering of California’s municipal leaders, sharing Palmdale’s successful initiatives and forward-thinking approaches to contemporary urban challenges.
Bishop was selected as the City’s voting delegate to represent Palmdale in the League of California Cities Annual General Assembly. During the General Assembly, voting delegates debate and consider proposals to become official Cal Cities policy. These policies directly guide Cal Cities’ advocacy to promote local decision-making and lobby against statewide policies that erode local control. Moreover, Bishop’s role as a voting delegate allowed him the opportunity to attend informative sessions and keynote speakers highlighting major factors facing local governments.
“Our participation in this conference reflects Palmdale’s continued dedication to spearheading innovation, sharing best practices and learning from other municipalities," said Mayor Austin Bishop. “The insights gained and shared will directly benefit our community as we continue to implement groundbreaking solutions for Palmdale’s future.”

Antelope Valley Medical Center (AVMC) Hospital Enhances MRI System with Cutting-Edge AI Technology |
LANCASTER, CA - As 1 of only 10 facilities in Southern California equipped with this cutting-edge technology, Antelope Valley Medical Center (AVMC) is excited to announce the upgrade of its magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system with the installation of the SIGNA™ Artist Lift 1.5T MR system. This new, advanced technology represents a significant advancement in diagnostic imaging, offering enhanced precision, and 50% faster scanning time, which makes for a more comfortable experience for patients.
“We are consistently looking for ways to improve the patient experience without taking short cuts on their quality of care, and this recent upgrade is evident of that commitment”, says Edward Mirzabegian, Chief Executive Officer, Antelope Valley Medical Center. “Already used internationally, we’re proud to be one of the first to use this technology here in California.”
Designed with patients in mind, the SIGNA™ Artist offers shorter scan times and a more calming experience with less noise. It features special, lightweight AIR™ Coils that feel like a blanket for improved patient comfort. The system also offers solutions to patients whose medical conditions previously excluded them from MRI scanning, including those with claustrophobia, tremors, dementia, emergent and post stroke patients and patients needing multiple scans.
Enabled with artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, the system produces images that are up to 60% sharper than those of older machines. Our radiologists can clearly see small changes, allowing them to diagnose illnesses more easily and confidently, resulting in our attending physicians receiving more accurate and detailed images of the brain, spine, musculoskeletal system, and internal organs. Patients ultimately benefit by receiving a more focused treatment plan and quicker decisions about their care.
