Step Into the Spotlight: Palmdale Playhouse Brings ‘Cabaret’ to Life
PALMDALE, CA — The Palmdale Playhouse is excited to “willkommen” Palmdale Repertory Theatre’s production of the Tony Award-winning musical “Cabaret,” running Oct. 17-19 and Oct. 24-26, which transforms the theater into the seductive and dangerous world of 1930s Berlin and its notorious Kit Kat Club.
The electrifying production invites the audience to step into a decadent atmosphere where outcasts and artists defiantly celebrate life as the grasp of the Third Reich closes in around them. This powerful musical captures the intoxicating energy of a society dancing on the brink of catastrophe as music and joy become acts of resistance against rising fascism and antisemitism in 1931 Berlin.
Experience the legendary songs and choreography that earned the original 1966 Broadway production eight Tony Awards and the New York Drama Critics’ Circle Award for Best Musical during its 1,165-performance run.

An Update on Government Shutdown Resources
Starting October 1st, 2025, the federal government has entered a “shutdown” caused by a lapse in appropriated resources. I'm ready to work across the aisle to reopen our government while ensuring our working families don’t lose access to the health care and food assistance they depend on.
Critical services related to national security, the postal system, and veterans’ health care will remain operational. However, if you have questions about this shutdown and what it might mean for you, I’ve put together a resource page on my website to answer questions and outline the federal services that may be impacted.
My office will remain open during usual business hours to process federal casework and answer your questions. If you have a comment or would like to share how a shutdown impacts you, please send us a message or reach out to our offices:

Big Wins for Our Community: Four New Laws Signed by Governor!
Big Wins for Our Community: Four New Laws Signed by Governor!
Great news! Governor Newsom has signed three of my bills into law today, bringing our total to four bills passed this legislative cycle. These laws are designed to support our communities, improve public safety, and protect small businesses. Here's what they do in simple terms:
AB 417 – Improving Community Revitalization. This law makes it easier for local communities to invest in neighborhood improvements through Community Revitalization and Investment Authorities (CRIAs) and Enhanced Infrastructure Financing Districts (EIFDs). Essentially, it helps fund projects that make our communities stronger and more vibrant.
AB 645 – Supporting Emergency Dispatchers. This law requires all public safety dispatchers to receive Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) training. That means when you call 911, the dispatcher will have the right skills and knowledge to help guide emergency responders quickly and effectively—saving lives and keeping our community safer.
AB 521 – Protecting Contractors' Licensing Board. This law protects the Contractors State License Board (CSLB) from being responsible for legal fees if there's a lawsuit involving a licensed contractor's cash deposit. It ensures that the Board can continue its important work regulating contractors without unnecessary legal risk.

A Statement from FPH2 Chairman Parris
First Public Hydrogen Authority Remains Committed to Expanding the Hydrogen Economy in California
Recognizing recent shifts in USDOE hydrogen grant funding, First Public Hydrogen Authority (FPH2), the nation’s first public hydrogen utility, underscores our commitment to expanding hydrogen deployment through proven municipal strategies. Working with local governments, skilled workforce, the private sector, and university partners, increased hydrogen deployments are already on the horizon.
As we plan our energy future, FPH2 will stay the course on enabling hydrogen adoption across the economy. We will utilize every available tool to support new hydrogen production projects in the state, as well as new infrastructure that stores, transports, dispenses, and utilizes hydrogen. Expanding hydrogen production here at home strengthens our region’s competitive position, advances energy diversity and independence, and creates more highly skilled jobs.
First Public Hydrogen Authority will remain steadfast in its mission to expand the hydrogen economy. Cities created FPH2 to ensure that hydrogen remains a practical and reliable energy resource. We will remain focused on new energy, new jobs, lower costs for consumers, and overall improving our communities.
