Palmdale Takes Action Against Fentanyl with Youth Multimedia Awareness Challenge |
PALMDALE, CA — The City of Palmdale is proud to announce the return of the Youth Multimedia Fentanyl Awareness Challenge, inviting young community members to showcase their creativity and help raise awareness about the dangers of fentanyl and drug overdose.
Middle and high school students in Palmdale are encouraged to participate by submitting original songs, artwork, poetry, or video public service announcements (PSAs).
“Our youth in Palmdale are deeply concerned about the dangers of fentanyl and possess the passion and determination to make a meaningful impact in the fight against fentanyl-related deaths and overdoses,” said Mayor Richard J. Loa. “This challenge empowers them to raise their voices and creatively educate their peers on the importance of staying safe and avoiding dangerous substances.”
Exciting prizes will be awarded to the most impactful submissions, with the winning entries featured on the City’s website and YouTube channel.

The prizes for middle school students are $400 for the top video PSA, $300 for the best original song, $200 for the most influential artwork and $100 for the winning poem.
High school students can win $600 for the top video PSA, $450 for the best original song, $350 for the most impactful artwork and $200 for the winning poem.
“This isn’t just a contest — it’s a chance for our youth to become changemakers in their community,” said Mayor Pro Tem Laura Bettencourt. “By participating, they’ll help raise awareness, prevent overdoses and ensure a healthier Palmdale for future generations.”
