City of Palmdale Calls Pup Parents to Free Microchipping Event
PALMDALE, CA - The City of Palmdale is hosting two tail-wagging opportunities for residents to microchip their furry canine friends. The free events take place on Saturday, May 10 and Saturday, June 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Poncitlán Square, located at 38315 9th St. East. This special opportunity is only available to people who live within the incorporated city limits (ZIP codes 93550, 93551 and 93552).

Residents’ beloved canine companions can receive a tiny microchip that could make all the difference if they are ever lost, stolen or end up in a shelter. This potentially life-saving service is funded by Measure AV and is hosted in partnership with Community Effort Animal Rescue.

“Microchipping is like giving your dog a permanent collar that can never get lost or be removed,” said Mayor Richard J. Loa. “When a dog is found, a quick scan reveals their owner’s information, which dramatically increases the chances of a happy reunion. This event is an excellent example of how Measure AV funds directly benefit our community.”
What makes the process “pawsitively” wonderful is that the procedure to insert a microchip is quick, safe and about as painless as a regular vaccine. Event staff will then register the chip to the owner, offering peace of mind in a chip that’s about the size of a grain of rice.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for Palmdale residents to protect their four-legged family members,” said Mayor Pro Tem Laura Bettencourt. “When we work together to ensure our pets can be properly identified, we create a safer, more caring community.”

This free service is offered on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
