| Palmdale Cracks Down on Illegal Fireworks: “If You Light It, We’ll Write It” |
PALMDALE, CA — As Independence Day celebrations approach, the City of Palmdale is stepping up its commitment to community safety with the return of its hardline enforcement campaign, “If You Light It, We’ll Write It.” Anyone caught selling or using illegal fireworks will face hefty fines starting at $2,500, with second offenses rising to $5,000 and third offenses reaching $10,000. Criminal charges may also be pursued in serious cases.
To protect Palmdale neighborhoods, the City is working closely with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD), Los Angeles County Fire Department (LAFD) and Palmdale Code Enforcement Officers, who will be conducting targeted patrols to identify and cite violators. Enforcement efforts will focus on areas with a history of fireworks violations and on disrupting illegal sales.
“Independence Day represents the heart of our American spirit and freedom,” said Mayor Richard J. Loa. “By using Safe and Sane fireworks responsibly, we can celebrate our nation’s freedom without endangering our neighbors or property.”

“Our freedom comes with responsibility, and our City’s well-being is a top priority,” said Mayor Pro Tem Laura Bettencourt. “If you see someone selling or using illegal fireworks, report it immediately. Together, we can protect our homes, our pets and our families from preventable fires and injuries.”
