City of Lancaster Reminds Residents That All Fireworks Are Illegal
Lancaster, CA - As the Fourth of July approaches, the City of Lancaster and Lancaster Police Department (LPD), in coordination with the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department and Fire Department, are reminding residents that all fireworks are illegal in the City of Lancaster, including those commonly referred to as “safe and sane.”

“Keeping Lancaster safe is something we all play a part in,” said Mayor R. Rex Parris. “We’re excited to celebrate summer with tons of fun community activities — choosing not to use fireworks is one simple way we can protect our neighbors and enjoy the season responsibly, together.”

LASD enforces a zero-tolerance policy for fireworks, and anyone caught lighting fireworks may face citations of up to $1,000 and possible arrest. This ordinance is in place to protect residents, pets, property and open spaces from the dangers of fireworks.

“Personal fireworks are not permitted under any circumstances in the City of Lancaster,” said LPD Chief Rodrick Armalin. “Lancaster’s ordinance exists to protect our community from preventable injuries, fires, and unnecessary trauma, especially for vulnerable populations and animals. We urge all residents to comply with the law and help keep Lancaster safe.”
Illegal fireworks pose significant threats to public safety, including risks of wildfires, injuries, and distress to pets, veterans, and individuals sensitive to loud noises. The City’s zero-tolerance policy reflects its commitment to preventing these harms.

Residents are encouraged to report any illegal firework activity by calling the Fireworks Hotline at 661-723-6132. Reports can remain anonymous and are a critical part of helping local law enforcement respond effectively.
