A Message from the Mayor: Preparing for This Week’s Storm
Dear Lancaster Community,
As we head into Christmas week, weather forecasts are calling for a multi-day storm system bringing periods of heavy rain and high winds beginning Tuesday afternoon and continuing through Saturday evening. While this storm may build over several days, I want to assure you that the City of Lancaster is fully prepared and taking proactive steps to keep our community safe.
Our Public Works teams have cleared storm drains citywide and will be on standby 24/7 throughout the duration of the storm to respond quickly to any issues. City staff are coordinating closely across departments and with regional partners to monitor conditions and address concerns as they arise.
If you encounter flooding, debris, or any storm-related hazard, please call our Public Works 24/7 Hotline at (661) 723-5985. Reporting what you see helps us respond faster and prevent further damage.
What to Watch For
* Flooded intersections or low-lying roads * Debris near washes and drainage areas * Slower traffic and reduced visibility
How to Stay Safe
* Avoid non-essential travel during the storm * Never drive or walk through flooded streets * Keep children away from flowing water * Prepare your property with sandbags * Sandbag stockpile is now located at Avenue I & 30th Street West * ]All Lancaster Fire Stations also have sandbags available * Give yourself extra time and space if driving is unavoidable
When to Call the Hotline (661) 723-5985
