Palmdale Launches Next-Generation Business Watch Program |
PALMDALE, CA — The City is excited to unveil its redesigned Business Watch, offering Palmdale businesses powerful tools and resources to enhance security and prevent crime. This innovative initiative is designed to create a safer community and provide invaluable support to business owners.
At the heart of the groundbreaking program is a dedicated Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy and Palmdale Public Safety team for each participating business, ensuring personalized attention and expert advice. Participants will gain insights into local crime trends, learn to recognize and prevent criminal activity, identify suspicious behaviors and safeguard against shoplifting, fraud and counterfeit currency. Free Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) consultations are also available to help configure spaces to deter criminal activity effectively.
“Palmdale’s transformed Business Watch is free and designed to educate local establishments and their employees on techniques to enhance security,” said Mayor Austin Bishop. “Crime has no place in Palmdale, and we remain dedicated to equipping our community with the resources and support needed to protect against unlawful acts.”
The cutting-edge program offers a host of benefits, including free Ring spotlight cameras for the first 250 businesses that join on a first-come, first-served basis. By participating, they will not only gain valuable security knowledge, but also build strong relationships with neighboring proprietors, the City’s Public Safety team and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD). Business Watch is available at no cost to any business within incorporated City of Palmdale limits.

Palmdale Adds First of Its Kind Vehicle to Anti-Graffiti Fleet |
PALMDALE, CA — The City of Palmdale proudly announces the addition of a groundbreaking third truck to its anti-graffiti fleet to keep our community clean and safe. This state-of-the-art vehicle features cutting-edge sustainable technology that captures and repurposes water during graffiti removal, making our cleanup efforts more efficient and environmentally conscious. This new truck joins two others that have recently been put into service as part of our ongoing dedication to combat graffiti in our City.
“We are committed to preserving the natural beauty of our community and will not let tagging get in the way,” said Mayor Austin Bishop. “The addition of this truck will ensure the place we call home remains a pristine place for all residents, while also emphasizing our commitment to sustainable practices.”
The vehicle, built on a Ford F550 platform, is equipped with a 200-gallon water tank, a powerful 3000psi hot water pressure washer unit and an airless paint pump system, all crucial for its innovative water recycling process. Additionally, the truck features the new mobile filtration system, which effectively captures wash water and debris via vacuum power, filtering it for reuse. This advanced technology removes most solids and 99.9% of non-soluble and petroleum-related products without the need for cumbersome and costly filters, allowing the recycled water to be returned to the tank for future cleaning efforts.
Safety remains a top priority, which is why this new vehicle is outfitted with enhanced traffic safety features, including LED beacon lights and a traffic arrow board, ensuring safe operation during graffiti removal activities.

Palmdale Unveils Stunning Mural on the Exterior of the Palmdale Playhouse |
PALMDALE, CA — The City of Palmdale is thrilled to announce a breathtaking new addition to the Palmdale Playhouse. On Thursday, Dec. 12, the City hosted an unveiling for its newest mural, “The Curtain Calls,” created by husband-and-wife duo MJ Lindo-Lawyer and Joshua Lawyer of Santa Rosa-based Rough Edge Collective and assisted in the painting by Monty Guy.
“Palmdale has a rich history of artistic spirit and diversity,” said Mayor Austin Bishop. “It was a pleasure to be able to spotlight this magnificent piece and share its vibrant imagery with residents.”
The 152-foot-wide narrative artwork features a highly detailed reflection of the Playhouse’s historic theatrical programs on the façade of the building that celebrates the community’s diversity. The first scene shows characters from the Wizard of Oz peeking out from behind a red curtain, with the original brick schoolhouse serving as the backdrop, symbolizing the Emerald City. The setting is enriched by a local landscape featuring Joshua trees and a small silhouette of a B2 Bomber flying overhead.
In the second part, the tension builds as characters from Treasure Island are introduced. The final section showcases a singer in the spotlight, accompanied by a bouquet of wildflowers that signifies the conclusion of a remarkable performance. This leads to a display of costumes and props behind the scenes, which includes a ballet tutu and pointe shoes, Don Quixote's lance, a Sherlock Holmes costume, ruby slippers from the Wizard of Oz, a Robin Hood costume, a guitar and a prop skull. Lastly, a picture of the two-headed llama from Dr. Dolittle hangs on the wall. The mural is completed with a red curtain on the right and Audrey from the musical Little Shop of Horrors.
