City Hosts Meeting on Updated Fire Hazard Severity Zone Maps |
PALMDALE, CA — The City of Palmdale invites residents to a community meeting on Wednesday, June 18, at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chamber at 38300 Sierra Highway, Palmdale, CA, to learn about important updates in the Fire Hazard Severity Zone (FHSZ) maps released in March by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE).
“Staying informed is the first step in protecting our community,” said Mayor Richard J. Loa. “These updated maps give us the tools to better prepare for wildfire threats. I encourage all Palmdale residents to attend and learn how this affects their home.”
These maps identify areas at increased risk of wildfire and now reflect Moderate, High, and Very High hazard designations based on updated scientific data and fire behavior modeling. The FHSZ maps are a key tool in helping communities improve fire prevention, guide building regulations and strengthen emergency response planning.
