Palmdale Expands Mental Health and Wellness Initiatives to Support Community Well-being
Palmdale, CA – The City of Palmdale is dedicated to creating partnerships and initiatives that improve the community’s mental health and wellness. These initiatives include a prevention summit, well-being events, youth development days, capacity and sustainability training and certifications in Applied Positive Psychology.

“Ensuring mental health and well-being is close to my heart and a top priority in Palmdale,” said Mayor Richard Loa. “By participating in the upcoming Prevention Summit and programs, the community will not only gain valuable insights into their wellbeing but also contribute to shaping a healthier Palmdale. I encourage everyone to take advantage of these opportunities.”

Upcoming events include:

  • Many Voices One Vision Prevention Summit (April 30-May 1): This inaugural event focuses on building a thriving and connected community by addressing mental health, substance abuse, violence prevention, financial insecurity and more. The summit will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wed., April 30 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thurs., May 1 at the Palmdale Oasis Park Recreation Center located at 3850 E. Ave S.   • Certificate of Applied Positive Psychology (CAPP) – Cohort 4: This eight-month personal and professional development program begins in May. Learn more and apply for a scholarship at ChampionsOfChange.Club/Palmdale by Wed., April 30.

  • Youth Development Days (2025-2026): In collaboration with local schools, these events will cultivate leadership and resilience among Palmdale’s youth.

    Partnership with The Wellbeing Lab

    The City has collaborated with The Wellbeing Lab powered by Champions of Change since 2021 to inspire a culture of resilience, positivity and community well-being. With a steadfast commitment to fostering personal and collective growth, this joint effort has not only empowered individuals in Palmdale, but has also laid the groundwork for sustainable change across Antelope Valley.

    “The City is proud to expand our partnership with The Wellbeing Lab in our shared goal to enhance community well-being,” said Mayor Pro Tem Laura Bettencourt. “Through initiatives like the Many Voices One Vision Summit, the Certificate of Applied Positive Psychology program and Youth Development Days, we are investing in the personal and collective growth of Palmdale and beyond.”

    Operation Engage: Capacity Building and Sustainability Training

    On Fri., March 14, the DEA and City are partnering through the Fight Fentanyl Antelope Valley Campaign to host Operation Engage, a capacity building and sustainability training for prevention providers. Located at the Marie Kerr Park Recreation Center, capacity building will take place from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and sustainability training from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. The sessions will provide information, tools, skills and processes to local prevention services providers to improve their capacity and effectiveness to address these issues in their respective communities.
