Palmdale Empowers Teens to Take a Stand in Fight Against Fentanyl with Summer Youth Program |
PALMDALE, CA — The City of Palmdale is putting power in the hands of local youth with its Fight Fentanyl Antelope Valley Summer Youth Program. This free, three-day initiative is designed to inform and inspire local teens to make a difference in the fight against fentanyl and substance abuse.
The program will be held concurrently at two locations: the Palmdale Oasis Park Recreation Center, 3850 E. Avenue S, and the Lancaster Community Center, 44611 Yucca Ave. from Tuesday, July 29 to Thursday, July 31 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. It is open to youth in grades 6 through 12. Teens will gain critical knowledge about resisting peer pressure, managing stress and recognizing the dangers of fentanyl, all in a safe, supportive and innovative environment.
“We’re not just educating our youth, we’re giving them the tools to become advocates and changemakers against deadly drugs in our community,” said Mayor Pro Tem Laura Bettencourt. “This program can help save lives all while providing a positive environment where teens can make lasting friendships and develop leadership skills. This summer, our youth can be part of something bigger than themselves.”
Fight Fentanyl Summer Youth Program features workshops led by prevention experts, interactive sessions on drug resistance and stress management. Plus, all teens receive free breakfast and lunch daily and have chances to win gift cards and local event tickets.
