| MISAC Names Palmdale Among California’s Leaders in Municipal IT Practices |
The City of Palmdale is proud to accept the award for Excellence in Information Technology Practices from the Municipal Information Systems Association of California (MISAC). The recognition places Palmdale among a select group of municipalities statewide that achieved this distinction.
The honor recognizes local government agencies that meet or surpass MISAC’s high standards in IT governance and operations, reflecting exceptional performance. It conducted a rigorous peer-review evaluation, which examined Palmdale’s commitment to 11 categories, including strategic planning, budgeting, project management, disaster preparedness and cybersecurity.
“This recognition reflects our IT division’s commitment to running operations with the same level of excellence we expect across every City function,” said Mayor Pro Tem Laura Bettencourt. “Strong governance, smart planning and sound policies might not be visible to the public, but they’re the foundation that allows us to innovate and deliver superior service. What sets great cities apart is often what happens behind the scenes and this award confirms that Palmdale’s approach to technological leadership positions us to serve our community well into the future.”

MISAC established the Excellence Award in 2000 to recognize exemplary IT practices. This is Palmdale’s sixth time being recognized by MISAC. The City previously won the Excellence Award in 2020 and earned an Achievement Award in 2019, 2021, 2022, and 2023, demonstrating a culture of innovation rooted in efficiency and service.
These awards validate years of hard work by Palmdale’s IT division, which has built a strong foundation of governance, planning and operational excellence that enables the City to adapt as technology changes to continue supporting the diverse needs and high expectations of Palmdale residents.
