The artist talk will take place at MOAH:CEDAR on Sunday, September 15 from 3 to 4 p.m., with the closing reception taking place immediately after the talk, from 4 to 6 p.m. Stop by for an insightful talk and for the final opportunity to view the exhibition.

Echoes of Nature explores the practice between humanity and the natural world. Through three diverse yet interconnected pieces, the exhibition delves into themes of self, representation, language, and technology. It underscores the importance of self-reflection, the influence of language, and the role of technology in shaping our understanding of the natural world and ourselves within it.

LANCASTER, CA - The Antelope Valley Family YMCA is proud to announce the dedication of its Child Activity Center to Claudia Petryshyn, a former Board Member and passionate child advocate who passed away in 2021.

Palmdale Secures $5.3 Million Federal Grant for Major Street Safety Improvements
PALMDALE, CA – The City of Palmdale has secured a $5,382,164 grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Safe Streets For All (SS4A) Program. This funding will support the 20th St. East Corridor Improvement Project, enhancing safety and accessibility along a 1.92-mile segment of this major thoroughfare.

The project addresses critical safety concerns on 20th St. East, a high-traffic corridor serving three schools and connecting residents to essential community resources. Planned improvements include new sidewalks, bike lanes, enhanced crosswalks, additional lighting, and reconstruction of the 20th Street East intersection.

“This project will significantly improve safety for all road users, especially for the over 5,500 students attending the three schools along this corridor,” said Mayor Austin Bishop. “These enhancements align with our Sustainable Transportation Plan and directly address community input on critical safety needs.”

The improvements will benefit students from Tamarisk Elementary, Sage Academy Middle School and Palmdale High School, as well as residents in the surrounding areas. The project also aims to enhance connectivity to public transit, parks and employment centers, including Edwards Air Force Base Plant 42.

City Officials Outraged at SR-14 North LA County Safety and Mobility Improvement Corridor Project Meeting Cancelation
PALMDALE, CA – The City of Palmdale is outraged by Caltrans’ decision to postpone the SR-14 North Los Angeles County Safety and Mobility Improvement Study public meetings, which were scheduled for Sept. 12 in Palmdale and Sept. 14 in Santa Clarita.

The improvement study’s goal is to seek solutions to enhance safety and improve travel times along the corridor. Prior to the delay, nearly 40,000 meeting notices were mailed to residents, and numerous social media posts were made to inform the public.

“This decision is unacceptable,” said Mayor Austin Bishop. “The project is essential to providing safe and efficient transportation for all North Los Angeles County residents, including Palmdale, and Caltrans should be held accountable for their inadequacies in this decision.”

The North Los Angeles County Transportation Coalition, a regional Joint Powers Authority composed of Los Angeles County and the cities of Santa Clarita, Palmdale and Lancaster, is investing local tax dollars into the improvement study. For decades, the lane drops and gaps along the SR14 have caused severe problems for residents traveling between the Santa Clarita and Antelope Valleys. This study is essential to improving this key route.
